    Default Giovanni De Francesco

Hello everyone! I'm a 3D Artist from Italy
I've decided to join this challenge even if I got to know about it a bit late. Luckily I have plenty of free time in the next days.
I want mine to be a tribute to an existing work rather than an original project.
I love the work of Santiago Calatrava whose is who inspired me to attend this contest, is the fact he actually made winery himself.

My intentions are to emphasize the beautiness of its architectural work bringing to light that natural balance between lines and curves. To disclose the harmony of spaces that create dynamism which is capable of giving to the static work its own movement.

Thankfully I found the drawings of Calatrava project in a book about him that I own. I used those as a starting point.
I have some knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 in its architectural component but I never had to deal with the Landscape or Foliage sistem. It will definitely be an interesting journey.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Construction of the building was found to be much more complex than expected. The designs that I found were insufficient and I had to take as a reference hundreds of photographs of the building to be able to reproduce all its volumes in the correct way. I know it may seem simple at first glance but inside it's not, trust me.
Therefore I'm a little late on the schedule but at least I have already completed the UV mapping process (texture and Lightmap) and started importing and playing with Unreal Engine.

Hey Raiden, we've run into the same issues with lack of photo reference and have grown a huge appreciation for people in the arch-viz industry that do this for a living Your work is looking great though, keep pushing!

I'm still alive, I'm just I'm working like crazy to present something acceptable
If I'm not mistaken I have more or less 10 hours of time before it becomes 23:59 SST at Midway Atoll.
Now I just have to learn Matinee... It will be tough

I almost forgot to post the pictures here For me it was a race against time. I did what I could, but I will definitely continue to work on this project to complete it as I want.
But taking into account that my Unreal project was totally blank five days ago, I can feel pleased. UE4 is an incredible tool and it showed that on this occasion too. I post some image here, no postproduction involved.

Here is the video. Due to the delay I had to do it in two hours so I'm not particularly proud of it but I hope it is enough to show the scene.

Hi Guys, I had the time to work a little more on this scene therefore I have improved a bit the assets and cinematics. It is still a work in progress But any suggestion is welcome.
