    Hello,
I recently heard of this challenge and I think I can make a nice project out of this.
I started working with UE4 a few months ago and I'm feeling very confortable with its great possibilities.

For the Vineyard challenge I thought of the vines located in the northern west side of Spain, in the area named 'Ribeira Sacra' inside Galicia. Surrounded by canyons, valleys and a river crossing them. Its got several denominations of origin and of course produces famous wines.

The idea is to create the winery/resort on top of these mountains adapting into their curved topology. From the inside you can have great views while enjoying a wine cup in the dinner room.

I'll post updates as soon as I have them, good luck to everyone!

Hello again, its time for some updates.
I started creating the landscape and the general views from the resort/winery first, theres a little explanation of each one inside each image. They are still a work in progress but thats the main idea. I hope you'll like them!

Another image from the previous set, working with the daylight and testing several configurations. There are too many times of the day which would work great with this project!

I started designing the main building and all of its facilities. The main concept I want to work with is a winery built at the top of the canyon. Its geometry will be inspired by the slopes at the mountains and vineyards where its located, so it will have a horizontal shape with no more than 3 floors which will be constructed like a stair.

The project is meant to have a resort/hotel but I don't want to include too many rooms like a convencional one, so instead I will be placing around 5 rooms with a suite size and plenty of space for enjoying the views from the inside or the balcony.
The main floor/entrance will have the reception hall, service rooms and visitor rooms. Downstairs will hold the restaurant with a terrace area facing toward the mountains with a pool in one of its sides.
Finally, inside the mountain and in the lowest floor I'll build the main winery keeping it out the light.

Its architecture style will be mainly contemporary and it will use local materials like wood and stone.

Here are some of the sketches I made :

I'm updating with more sketches of the resort. It'll finally have three different floors and I'll construct the entrance area, hallway, rooms, lifts, restaurant/cafeteria, spa, main winery with the wine tanks and a terrace in the outside.
I drew several room distributions for adapting the hallway structure. Also each room will have an access to an individual balcony with views to the canyon.

Finally I started creating the 2D and first 3D volumes, specially for taking measures as the building is going to have a big scale at the end.
I hope you like my creation process!

Thanks iAlias, I wanted to start with the landscape first especially because I wanted to have the view from the winery first.

As for now, time for another update. Just the wireframe of the building so you can see the evolution from the previous picture.
I'm adding too much detail and I like to work with the exact measures as if it was a real architecture project. Starting from floorplans and then creating the 3D structures over them.

I expect my next update will be a clearer image!

Here are some images from the more technical side of the modelling: mostly structure, railings, stairs, beams, wires and one of the wine tanks models I did. As you can see the building has got pretty big and I'm detailing almost every corner of it like a real architecture project.
I used several colors for having a better reference of the materials and to easing me the way for UE.

I'm trying to make small pieces out of everything as it will help lately when importing to UE, specially with lightmaps and for avoiding black spots on the surfaces due to low resolutions.

So I finished the modeling of the building, it took me a little more than expected but I think its worth the effort. These are some screens of the full wireframe (with all the layers actived) and then quick renders of the building from the outside.

Now its time to unwrap, texturing and all that work before finally using UE.

    Lot of work these days!
I'm finally done with all the unwrapping and texturing. It took a while as I want to optimize lightmaps inside UE so, most of the hidden faces are separated objects.

Then I exported all meshes into UE and spend a time testing them. I had some issues with the stairs collisions though, they didn't allow the character to climb them but luckily its fixed now -I had to create a more simple structure instead- So now all the building is fully explorable. It also moves rather smoothly considering it has 3 large floors.

Next I merged both building and landscape levels for adapting the terrain in the top of the mountain where the winery will be set.
Here are some preview images showing the project in UE, still with a basic illumination -preview quality, white material and 64 lightmap resolution- with a few light spots. I hope you like them.

Continuing with the UE work, I already made all the logos and names of the project -Wine Valley- and put them over the building in selected places.

I started doing all the illumination, finding a way between quality and speed as having hundreds of static meshes increases the building times a lot! I also finally decided to go with lightmaps and just having the directional lighting as movable. I tried faster methods of 'rendering' but they ended being or too splotchy or too dark in certain areas.

Finally, here is a first try of the textured -but still empty- restaurant, just a wip for the moment.

What do you think about them?
